learning how to drown

She was swept up in the river
unknowingly at first
Yet, it seemed like fun, so she played along
allowing the water to seep in through her clothing and hug her eroded limbs
it never seemed necessary to scream or gather air
even when the current changed, as they do, she chose still
to swim on
She had compiled a list of cautions, learned from false mistakes
felt confident in her abilities of escape

She would laugh sometimes, at Misfortune,
who kissed his companions with drops of cyanide
he had become a great friend, as long as she posed no questions as to why
descriptions of victims were never volunteered, but she often would see them
down below, crashing about on the rocks
Indifference to history and contempt for thruth allowed her ignorance to appear as
innocence
and so she lasted much longer then the others

When sentimental spit began to dry at the corners of her mouth they told her it was time
to (re)dissolve back into the earth
Un foreseen shock paralyzed her retaliation
Without dieing she rolled into the foam and sunk through the layers
It was never in their mind to disobey
and so
they ran over in congratulations and quickly erased her illusion of memory

Cool poem! I love how the tone of the poem is relativly the same throughout. It seems 'angry' to me.
